We are thrilled to announce the launch of Davidson Cares 2.0! Davidson Realty and the Davidson Companies’ successful corporate giving program demonstrates our commitment to local education, and this year’s program promises to have an even greater impact than last year.

Our program provides financial support to schools in the World Golf Village area, including Mill Creek Elementary, Wards Creek Elementary, Palencia Elementary and Pacetti Bay Middle School. During the 2012-2013 school year we raised a total of $11,300 in less than six months for the four schools. This year’s bar is set even higher!

St. Andrews Place is a private neighborhood made up of only 64 patio homes located on the Slammer & Squire side of The Neighborhoods of World Golf Village. St. Andrews is only minutes from The Village where you can check out the latest IMAX movie or grab dinner at Villagio Italian Grille. It is also conveniently located near 1-95, so you can travel to Jacksonville or downtown St. Augustine in no time. The community offers its residents secure concrete block homes perfect for retirees, empty nesters or second homeowners. Lawn maintenance and irrigation are included in Homeowners Association fees, so residents have all the freedom and benefits of a single-family home ownership without the hassle of yard maintenance.

Whether through work, community service, or just being a great neighbor, each of World Golf Village’s treasured residents give back to their community in their own ways.  Royal Pines resident Fred Odom is extraordinary because his efforts have benefited the area in each of these ways.

He serves on the Boards of Royal Pines Homeowners Association and Gateway Community Center in Jacksonville, in addition to dedicating time to several professional associations.  We recently caught up with Fred to get to know a little more about him and his background.

Q: From where do you hail and what brought you to St. Augustine? I am originally from Waycross, Georgia, but I have travelled around the world 65 times, so you say I am resident of the world.   I came to St. Augustine because of World Golf Village.

Tropical Smoothie is now open in The Shoppes at Murabella! It came at the perfect time when the beach and an ice-cold smoothie are calling your name. I think I can speak for most of my World Golf Village neighbors when I say how excited I am to have a healthy and delicious restaurant right outside the King & Bear gate.

“Eat Better. Feel Better.” Tropical Smoothie offers fresh food including breakfast, salads, wraps, sandwiches and flatbreads along with real fruit smoothies. My personal favorite is the Peaches N’ Silk with fresh peaches, strawberries and bananas, but you have your pick from low fat smoothies, supercharged smoothies or simply indulgent smoothies. Don’t forget to add in supplements for that extra boost! They offer everything from energizer supplements to stress defense supplements.

For the Love of Fishing

One of my favorite things about living in St. Augustine is the multitude of fishing opportunities in our area. Because we have vast bodies of water surrounding us including the St. Johns River, the Intracoastal Waterway, and the Atlantic Ocean, there are a variety of opportunities for both freshwater and saltwater fishing. We are also very lucky to have local fishing stores that are more than happy to help with tackle and local knowledge. Not to mention, local forums offering information and insight on both fishing locations and equipment.

After the name and concept had been determined, all that was left to do was find a hotelier, a timeshare developer, a retail developer, a golf course developer and a group of builders who would buy into the World Golf Hall of Fame concept and of course convince St. Johns County to support a convention center at the hotel!  It was imperative that all partners be willing to trust each other enough to construct their respective facilities simultaneously for a project Grand Opening. One thing was for sure, this was not a project for corporate America or any of the pension fund investors.
