1123F_elev_R_1Most people consider Arthur Rutenberg Homes to be in a class all their own. The quality they produce is rarely matched! That’s why we were thrilled to have Rutenberg Homes builder Mark Refosco take us along for the three-step process of building a one-of-a-kind custom home with Arthur Rutenberg Homes.

As you see in the video, the process starts with visiting their model home in Ponte Vedra, Florida. Homebuyers browse the Design Collection portfolio featuring about 80 floorplans to get an idea of what plan best fits their wants and needs. You also have the option of having a custom design plan created exclusively for you. Once you choose a floorplan, the fun part starts – focusing on the details!

184970_104121923003829_100002180658152_43025_4711363_nI love beer…most any kind of beer, so you can imagine I was extremely excited to hear that we now have a brewery right around the corner from our St. Augustine golf course community. Mile Marker Brewing is located right off SR 16 near the outlet malls. What that means to me is no more driving to Jacksonville Beach for delicious microbrews. Now, the delicious microbrews have come to me!

Mile Marker currently has five beers on tap – Mile Marker Zero (Key West Kölsch-style Ale), Mile Marker 1565 (Red Ale), Mile Marker 82 (Islamorada IPA), Ben’s Too Peachy (Kölsch-style Ale with peach), and a honey ale (Kölsch-style Ale with honey). They have a Pecan Brown Ale and an Oatmeal Stout brewing which will be ready to serve in the next couple of weeks.

Discover What De-Cluttering Will do For You!

Posted by: Peyton Davidson in Tips

clutter-clipartWorld Golf Village resident Michelle Petrarca, owner of “U Need Me” shared some much needed de-cluttering tips after the holidays. “My motto is to improve your space, create harmony, and discover what de-cluttering can do for you,” says Petrarca.

Michelle has come to realize that the journey from chaos to order is a powerful, transformative and spiritual undertaking and that her job is to stand witness for this process. When people are finally ready to pick up the phone to contact her, they are ready to look deep into their lives and begin letting go of the items and commitments that no longer serve them and actually keep them from feeling the creativity and freedom they yearn for.

Michelle believes to start the process, you first need to ask yourself these questions:
Do you feel uncomfortable when uninvited guests visit?
Are closets, cabinets and drawers overflowing?
How many items are “homeless” in each room ?
Do you waste time looking for possessions?
Is clutter causing a stressful atmosphere in your home?

Posted by: Peyton Davidson in Uncategorized

Our friends at Interiors Revitalized were willing to give us some great tips on decorating our Jacksonville golf course homes for the holidays!

christmas-mantel-121. Choose 2 or 3 colors to decorate with.

Using two to three colors to decorate will help you achieve a professionally decorated look. Deciding on a color palate before you go shopping will make the selection process quick and easy.

2. Bring the outdoors in.

Cut fresh greenery or visit your local tree stand for cuttings. You can use them on the mantle, as garland, or as a centerpiece along with candles. The possibilities are endless!

janiceWe had a blast this past Thursday night at Davidson Realty making our holiday wreaths and bidding on beautiful holiday decorations! Tis the season! Not only was it fun, but we raised over $1,400 for the Ronald McDonald House –  a great organization providing a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. Neighbors from all over our St. Augustine golf course community including World Golf Village, Kensington and Palencia came to participate and help raise money for such a great cause.

2011-12-01_19-57-05_594Representatives from Interiors Revitalized made sure everyone left with a stunning creation. And, a big thank you to Dr. Berry and the Village Chiropractic Center of Florida for donating the gorgeous decorations. I think the wine might have helped with everyone’s creativity!  We had holiday music helping us get into the Christmas spirit and enough holiday cookies to last us until next year. What a fun event!

We hope you enjoy the video above of our special night. To donate to the Ronald McDonald House or to learn more about this spectacular charity please visit http://rmhc.org/.

Breathe Easy: Make Sure the Air in Your Home is Mold-Free

Posted by: Peyton Davidson in Uncategorized

A Guest Blog from TCB EnviroCorp

TCB-Enviro-Corp-LogoThe combination of numerous waterways and warm weather is one of the advantages of making St. Augustine and the north Florida area your home, but it can also be a good environment for mold and mildew to thrive. Mold spores can aggravate allergies and other illnesses.

Mold can grow on many things, including, drywall, carpet, wood, paint and fabric. Although molds often originate behind walls and crawl spaces due to dampness, spores can easily spread through the rest of your home.  Mold spores that are set adrift in your home will find an appropriate place to live and grow, like bathrooms and kitchens which contain adequate food and moisture. A musty smell is often the first and easily recognizable sign that you could have some mold growth. If you notice a musty smell or suspect your home may have some mold, follow the tips below.

MarkDowningLast week Mark Downing with CornerStone Homes, who is one of our favorite builders to work with, took us on a tour of some of the new construction sites in our St. Augustine golf course community. CornerStone Homes has built many homes in St. Johns County communities like Nocatee, Murabella, and World Golf Village. They are currently building two custom homes on beautiful lots in GroveWood and Waterbury by the Links. Mark talked about a few of the things that sets CornerStone Homes apart and also told us a little bit about our new World Golf Village neighbors.

Waterbury HomeThe gorgeous home that backs up to the preserve in GroveWood will be occupied by a physician retiring from the northeast. The homebuyer has a friend in The Village and loves to play golf so the King & Bear and Slammer & Squire were huge selling points for his decision to relocate to the Neighborhoods of World Golf Village.  CornerStone’s other new construction project is a custom home in Waterbury by the Links.  The buyer is relocating to our gated community from Miami.  The spectacular home is situated on the King & Bear golf course.

Inside the Hall of Fame – What You Might Not Know

Posted by: Peyton Davidson in Uncategorized

Tower with flagsI visited the World Golf Hall of Fame this week and was lucky enough to have Director of Exhibits Andy Hunold give me an “insiders” tour. View the video and you can take the tour along with me.

First of all, I had no idea that the flags right outside the Hall of Fame represent the countries the members are from. It’s an impressive display that sets the stage for what’s to come inside the World Golf Hall of Fame.  I was also not aware that our St. Augustine golf course community is home to the only sports hall of fame in the world with an IMAX theater. If those things are not news to you, then how about this one…Did you know there have been over 50 exhibits displayed in the Hall of Fame to date? Pretty impressive, right?

The Hall of Fame currently has 136 members. These members are made up of both players and contributors to the game. The process of induction is depicted just inside the Hall of Fame. It really helps to understand how difficult the process of selection is. There are five criteria – the PGA TOUR ballot, International Ballot, LPGA Ballot, Lifetime Achievement Ballot, and Veteran’s Ballot. Andy does an excellent job of explaining the induction process in the full length video.
