This month we are focusing on a very special neighborhood in World Golf Village’s King & Bear community, WildWood! Davidson Realty agent Jennifer Todd joins us as we tour the neighborhood and highlight some of its best features like the beautiful forested conservation land surrounding the homesites and its quiet, family-friendly cul-de-sacs.

WildWood is the only neighborhood inside the King & Bear that is nestled within the largest preservation area in the community (28.1 acres). As you enter WildWood, the view before you is a 1,100’ long vista through a park, over a lake to the backdrop of conservation where there are frequent sightings of wild turkey and native deer.

CNN is another in a long line of media outlets to name St. Augustine one of the best places to retire.  In October, CNNMoney listed St. Augustine as one of “25 Best Places to Retire” in a list that also included Winston-Salem, NC, Austin, TX, Tucson, AZ, and Louisville, KY.  St. Augustine was the only Florida city to make the cut.

The article highlighted “St. Augustine’s fantastic weather, beautiful beaches, and world-class golf” as well as its “active year-round community,” housing options and Flagler Hospital.  In recent years, SmartMoney listed St. Augustine as one of nine “Best New Places to Retire,” Wall Street Journal’s MarketWatch listed St. Augustine as one of the “10 Best Places to Retire in the U.S,” and Bloomberg Businessweek listed St. Augustine as one of “America’s Best Affordable Places to Retire.”

Comments Off on World Golf Village and St. Augustine Retirees Have it Right! CNNMoney Names St. Augustine one of the “25 Best Places to Retire”

Finding a way to capitalize on these two project “attributes” was going to be the key to meeting the investor’s goals and objectives.

When fire or smoke unexpectedly damages your home, the first steps you take could mean the difference between a small cleanup and a more costly and time consuming restoration.  Knowing when to call in a professional can save you time in getting your life back to normal and money by preventing further damage.

What to do BEFORE disaster strikes:

  • Read your homeowner’s policy and review it annually to be sure you are adequately covered.
  • Keep important documents, policies and documentation (pictures or videos) of the contents of your home, outside your home in a safety deposit box.  Keep a second key with a friend or neighbor in the event your key is destroyed.
  • Keep copies of the contents of your wallets in your lock box.
  • Keep a spare or duplicate credit card in your lockbox.

What NOT to do if you have had fire damage:

  • Do not touch anything with your bare hands.  Oil from your hands can permeate upholstery, walls and woodwork, causing additional damage.
  • Do not wash walls.  Incorrect cleaning could compound the soot residue.
  • Do not attempt to clean carpets or upholstered furniture.
  • Do not use electrical appliances until having them checked.
  • Do not use ceiling fixtures if the ceiling is wet.

For the Maletta family, love and family came full circle right here in St. Augustine. It was here that more than 20 years ago, Tom and Michelle Maletta spent their honeymoon. And, after a couple major moves as well as extensive world travels, it is here where they returned in 2002 to lay roots and raise a family. They discovered their new home in Clubview Estates nestled near the first tee of the King & Bear golf course.

Today, Michele is a busy mother of three who was recently named to the Board of Davidson Cares. We caught up with Michele to ask her about her new appointment and her experiences.
