St. Augustine is a special little town known for its Spanish architecture, history, shopping and outstanding restaurants. Davidson Realty’s Graphic Designer Matt Burkhart and I recently took a trip to the oldest city in search of the best happy hour spots in town. Luckily for us, the locals were happy to point us to the three best places to stop and wet your whistle during the day!
Northeast Florida is known for its spectacular holiday lights, but none shine brighter than historic St. Augustine’s Nights of Lights celebration. In fact, Rachael Ray magazine named St. Augustine one of the Nation’s “Twinkliest Towns” in 2014. National Geographic also dubbed St. Augustine one of the Top 10 Places in the World to view holiday lights in 2012 and 2013.
This year’s event looks to be just as “twinklie” as previous years with more than 3 million lights going up through the town. The celebration will run from November 19 through January 31, 2017.
The drive will take place between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the Heritage Landing Amenity Center at 100 Heritage Parkway. The drive is co-sponsored by Vesta Property Services.
ESHC works to help St. Johns County’s homeless families with children to find the road to self-sufficiency. Interested donors are invited to bring non-perishable items like canned fruit and vegetables, beans, noodles, soups and canned meats. Cleaning supplies are also requested.
The World Gold Hall of Fame recently kicked off its newest exhibit “Grace & Grit: Women Champions Through the Years.” The exhibit celebrates the sport’s most accomplished female champions from the early 1940s to present day, including highlights of 28 Hall of Fame members (as well as potential members).
The exhibit features plenty of treasures from decades of women’s professional golf. Visitors can see a Women’s Titleholder’s Championship green jacket presented in 1965 to Kathy Whitworth, who holds a record 88 tour wins (more than any other professional golfer—male or female).
Davidson Realty Agent and published Christian author Shelley Nemethy will host a community Bible Study called James: Mercy Triumphs starting Thursday October 6th at Davidson Realty’s World Golf Village headquarters. The Bible Study will be held every Thursday night from 6:30 to 8:30 pm for eight weeks.
James: Mercy Triumphs is written by Biblical teacher and renowned author Beth Moore. Beth is founder of Living Proof Ministries and the author of bestselling Bible studies and books for women. According to the James: Mercy Triumphs website, the course centers on, “joy, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer.” Shelley said every Beth Moore Bible Study she has ever done has been life changing.
New construction is booming throughout Northeast Florida and has left buyers with an important decision to make: buy a new home or a previously owned home. We recently sat down with Bank of England Production Manager Troy Silhan for tips to help homebuyers understand the differences in the buying process and how to avoid issues.
According to Troy, the buying process is essentially the same from pre-approval through closing, but there are a few distinctions. His advice is to follow a few simple guidelines: determine your priorities early, utilize a Realtor’s expertise and thoroughly understand the contract.

Davidson Cares, the corporate giving program of Davidson Realty, is excited to announce their 1st Annual Shooting for SAYS Event on Thursday, October 20th at Jacksonville Clay Target Sports! Since the Davidson family is passionate about shooting sports, they thought an afternoon of shooting with friends to raise money for St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) would be an excellent new tradition for Davidson Cares. All proceeds from the event will benefit the boys at SAYS, which provides a safe, therapeutic home for boys 6-18 years of age that have suffered from severe abuse and neglect. SAYS takes in boys from all over the state of Florida.
