Davidson Realty President Sherry Davidson and I recently sat down with Emerald Homes’ New Home Consultant Katrina Watkins to learn more about Emerald Homes. Emerald’s exquisite model is right down the road from Davidson Realty’s office in the beautiful King & Bear Community in World Golf Village, so we were very interested to learn more about the company’s history, what other communities they’re building in and their customization process.

Michael Narace has proven that a passion for helping people never really goes away.

After serving our country for 20 years as a U.S. Marine, he found a new path that enabled him to continue being an active community contributor, this time as a Realtor guiding clients through the home buying and selling process, as well as a resident of World Golf Village.

Says Michael, “I look forward to being an active part of the community and also helping fellow veterans with all of their real estate needs.” We recently caught up with Michael to learn more about him, his background, and the Narace family.

You’ve traveled and lived all around the world. What inspired you to make World Golf Village your family’s home?  I had the opportunity to compare many different neighborhoods. But, from the first time that I played the King & Bear and had a chance to visit the local schools, I decided it would be the perfect place to raise my kids, and build a life after the military.

The rain didn’t stop our World Golf Village neighbors and friends from coming out to support the first annual Davidson Cares’ 5k & Kid’s Fun Run on Saturday, February 8th in World Golf Village! There were close to 100 runners that showed up in the rain, including a large group from Mill Creek Elementary school that had been training for the race for months (a big thank you to Mill Creek Elementary School’s Principal Amanda Riedl and Physical Education teacher Bob Larkin for their support). The kid’s games were a hit and Arthur Crofton from Lite 96.1 WEJZ did a wonderful job MC’ing the event. All in all, it was a great day raising money for our local schools, including Mill Creek Elementary, Wards Creek Elementary, Palencia Elementary and Pacetti Bay Middle School!

The Ice Plant Bar offers an experience like no other restaurant in our area. Its early 20th century vibe invites visitors to enjoy cocktails and delicious food the way it was in the early 1900s. Ice Plant focuses on fresh local ingredients and house-made juices and syrups to create unique cocktails that sit perfectly on the tongue. Their ice is carved daily from slow-frozen, filtered water and custom cut to fit any of their specialty drinks or spirits. Watching the bartenders craft the perfect drink is part of the experience! The cool, speak-easy atmosphere along with the friendly staff, exceptional food and creative drinks make for a perfect night out on the town!

Spring will be here before we know it – and with it the need to clean, landscape, and spruce up the lawn for warmer weather.

This year, the name to know is Hibbard Lawn Care. Serving all of St. Johns County, the family owned company offers full scale yard services including mowing, trimming, edging, landscaping, mulching, weeding, sodding, and clean up. Owner James Hibbard Jr. recently answered some questions about his company and its services.

We are all very happy to see that the World Golf Village area is growing again! You’ve probably noticed all the construction going on in the King & Bear, the Cascades, the Residences and the communities surrounding us. I analyze the Northeast Florida market statistics every month to see how our area is improving over time and I wanted to share the positive information I found. We have some really great things happening in and around WGV in 2014!

First, let’s look at what’s going on around our community and then we will look at what’s happening in WGV.

If you’ve been by the World Commerce Center recently, you’ve probably noticed all the construction going on. Mattamy Homes is building a community called Segovia, which will be a new townhome project of 220 homes.

So many of us consider our dogs to be part of the family. In fact, almost 40% of U.S. households own at least one dog (American Veterinary Medical Association, 2012) and we are more and more likely to include our pooch in family vacations, events, and even our weddings. So, it is only fitting that our community has created ways to include our furry friends in everyday activities.

Thanks to sites like BringFido.com, an online dog travel directory, it is easier than ever to find hotels, restaurants, and attractions that are pet friendly. Thanks to St. Augustine’s fantastic weather and reputation as a tourist destination, businesses have opened their doors to the millions of Americans who travel with their dogs. Here are just some of those local businesses.
