Pinterest is a virtual pinboard website where users collect and share images around a variety of themes mostly related to interests, hobbies and events. For example, food, crafts and design are popular themes on Pinterest. Thinking about a backyard makeover? Create a pinboard (like a bulletin) on Pinterest and start collecting your favorite outdoor living images and ideas. Or find great inspirational images and ideas for kids birthday parties, dessert recipes, home organization and more. It’s a visual social media site that lets users collect their own favorite images and browse other pinboards for inspiration, ‘re-pin’ images to their own collections and ‘like’ photos.
Now World Golf Village is on Pinterest. Check out our pinboards and share your pins. Follow us on Pinterest and watch for special rewards and contests coming soon. Happy pinning!
For a couple who thought they would never leave the Washington D.C. area, Allan and Audrey Freed are now among the biggest fans of living in World Golf Village. It’s been seven and a half years since the Freeds moved into Turnberry and Audrey Freed recently answered a few of our questions, including exactly how they ended up in our neck of the woods.
Tiger Woods famously matched Jack Nicklaus’ PGA TOUR all-time win record when he won his 73rd victory at the 2012 Memorial Tournament. Now items from that victory, including the ball Woods used to make his dramatic shot on the 16th hole and the glove he was wearing for his final round 67, are on display at the World Golf Hall of Fame & Museum.
The Fourth of July is all about patriotism, tradition, family fun and of course, fireworks! St. Augustine has all of these and more, so what better way to celebrate our nation’s birthday than in America’s oldest city? Thousands of local residents will be out for the annual fireworks show over the Matanzas Bay. Located in the heart of downtown St. Augustine, this event boasts one of the best pyrotechnic displays on the east coast.
One of our favorite exhibitions at the World Golf Hall of Fame & Museum in World Golf Village is the Member Locker Room where life-size lockers are stocked with actual mementos from Hall of Famers’ lives, often telling little-known stories about their careers and personal lives. What makes the Locker Room so compelling is the same reason the exhibits and lockers of the new 2012 Hall of Fame inductees are worth a visit: the personal mementos that provide an intriguing glimpse into the real worlds of golf’s greatest players and important contributors.

A group of friends and I met up last Thursday at the Renaissance Resort to enjoy excellent food, wine, spirits and the very talented Sinatra-esque singer, Wade Tower. Renaissance Hotels around the world participated in the “2012 Global Day of Discovery” on June 7th to encourage people to “Get out and Discover” something wonderful on June 7th, but as Assistant General Manager of the Renaissance of World Golf Village Paul Daum put it, “We got the best entertainment!”
Contest draws 1,268 entries and plenty of water cooler chat!
We knew we’d have some entries when we created the new Name It, Play It contest but when the entries climbed to over 1,000 we were pleasantly surprised. The contest also generated a lot of buzz. We heard neighbors talking about it in the fitness center, it was discussed on the golf course and we even heard chatter about it in Publix. And then there were the emails…let’s just say some people were passionate about their entries. In the end, the entry with the most votes (591 to be exact) was Kingpin which cleverly speaks to Arnold Palmer’s nickname as The King and, of course, the golf pin.
Looking for some inspiration to get in shape, live healthier or just fight like heck to reach your goals in life? Well read on about Glenmoor resident Winston Allen, a 29-year veteran of triathlons and Ironman competitions who still competes at 82 years old. Even a full knee replacement doesn’t keep Winston down – he just completed another triathlon this past April in Marineland, Florida.
How long have you lived in Glenmoor? My wife Carolyn and I have lived in Glenmoor, since November 2010. We are not new to the area since we moved to Glenmoor from The Legends, where we resided since November 2004. Prior to that, we lived in Muirfield Village in Dublin, OH., which is an area very similar to WGV.
Since our last visit to Mile Marker Brewery, the brew masters have added some great new unique beers on tap, entertainment, and BBQ for everyone to enjoy. As one of the fastest growing breweries in America’s oldest city, Mile Marker truly has exceeded all expectations in craft brewing and excellent service.
Let’s begin with the most important thing about Mile Marker…the beer! Since our last video, the brew masters have been working extremely hard to create one-of-a-kind beers that are like none other out there. The one I was most excited about was the double brewed IPA, known as the 215 Imperial IPA. If you are an IPA person like yours truly, you will enjoy this. The 215 is in reference to the Kennedy Space Center’s exit and the rebel spacecraft on the tap is there because they used both Millennium and Falconer Flight Hops. Another stand out was the Ginger Ale. A very smooth beer with hints of ginger amongst it, this is a great dinner beer, especially if you have a nice sushi roll to go along with it. The other two that are new since our last video are the Pecan Brown Ale and the Coconut Porter. Both are very flavorful, smooth and if you like a darker beer they are right up your alley.
There may be no better way to experience the food and culture of the original neighborhoods of Manhattan – than to indulge in tour led by Foods of New York Tours.
Foods of New York Tours was established in 1999 and by many critical accounts is the ultimate food and cultural experience – not only in Manhattan, but throughout the country. The tours truly go off-the-beaten-path and will keep bringing you back to the neighborhoods over and over, to discover and explore more of their authentic character.
